2016 PICCOLO SPOLETO | THE ART OF RECOVERY
This award-winning exhibition received the Elizabeth O’Neill Verner Award in 2006. Seeking to empower patients with mental illness and to educate the public of the stigma of mental illness the program accepts artists of all ages who are currently receiving services.
A Goal: this process will be a means of expression which will lead to recovery which celebrates the vitality and courage of the human spirit people recovering from mental illness, offering a powerful representation of the person within – ‘his or her pain, fear, recovery, and triumph’ (SCDMH).
Over 90 original works of art are displayed.
