I LOVE YOU SCULPTURE
Under the direction of sculptor, Bob Doster, Fine Arts students from The SC School for the Deaf and the Blind are creating 3 I LOVE YOU metal sculptures standing 5 feet tall which will be place in 3 SC cities.
Each sculpture needs about 750 individual hands.
Participants joined together in Marion Square to have their hands traced on to a huge sheet of aluminum then using metal cutting tools cut their hands out.
“I Love You” hand sign of American Sign Language (ASL) will be dedicated in Charleston this fall.
Other sculptures are displayed in Columbia and Spartanburg.
“Cathi Holst, an SCSDB graduate and an ASL teacher at the school, said the sculpture sends a universal message.”
