SEA ISLAND SAVORY HERB FARM
Formally Pete’s Herb’s, this is one amazing family owned farm; it has become the largest supplier of quality live herbs in the Lowcountry. My family has been visiting here for over 20 years. We started taking our 2 boys here when they were about 8 & 10 (our oldest is now 33) when the green houses ran along the river and guests were accompanied by Pete and his super friendly dogs.
Here, we fell in love with herbs, fruit trees, edible flowers & vegetables grown and cultivated in the lowcountry and have been growing them ever since. Two of our prized purchases are a lemon/ginger fig tree which has produces 1000 of figs and a bay tree which grows to about 20 feet each year and could supply all of Charleston with fresh leaves. I was first introduced to borage and lovage here.
Located south of Historic Charleston, off Chisolm Road on John’s Island, the drive in to the farm is magical. The dirt road is lined with camellias and ferns growing under a canopy of trees. Visit their site for a list of current herbs, recipes, and related herb sites.

on September 6, 2016The herb garden is beyond amazing. The plant places here are very much just that, plant places. This looks like a gold mine to me and yes your fig and bay trees are amazing. Of course, you and Jim love the space you are in and everything thrives from tender loving care. I would want to stay a while and just enjoy the view. A southern comfort zone.
